Lindenhurst Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Honored

Lindenhurst's JROTC Cadets Earn High Praise for Service to Veterans

The Suffolk Police Veterans Association commended the diverse group of Lindenhurst High School students for their exceptional character and dedication at a recent community BBQ.

Students in the Lindenhurst High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps are being celebrated for their remarkable community service.

The distinguished group of Bulldog cadets received a formal commendation from the Suffolk Police Veterans Association (SPVA) for their invaluable contributions during a recent event.

Their efforts were a critical part of the success of the association's annual Veterans BBQ held at the Northport VA Hospital.

The event itself was a massive undertaking, serving approximately 2,000 veterans and their families from across the area.

SPVA officials specifically praised the cadets for their reliability, sharp initiative, and impressive adaptability throughout the day.

In a statement, the association highlighted the students' professional conduct and what they called a "genuine commitment to honoring and serving our veteran population."

This recognition underscores the core values of the JROTC program, which is designed to build character, leadership, and a sense of civic duty.

Veterans who attended the BBQ personally commented on the respectful and capable assistance they received from the Lindenhurst students.

Superintendent of Schools Vincent A. Caravana called the honor a "well-deserved recognition for our Bulldog cadets."

He expressed immense pride in their dedication, discipline, and the leadership skills they are actively developing through the diverse MCJROTC program.

It's a powerful example of local youth making a tangible difference.

The actions of these young cadets reflect not only their own character but also the strength of the community programs shaping them.

Their service is a direct investment in the well-being of local heroes.

This commendation brings positive attention to the impactful, character-building opportunities available to students within the Lindenhurst Union Free School District.
