Babylon Village Community Contributions: 2025 Honorees

A Celebration of Passion and Purpose in Babylon Village

Anca Radoi was named the 2025 Babylon Village Woman of Distinction, while Kiernan O’Halloran and Jack Monteleone received the Good Citizenship Award for their dedication to making Babylon a better place.

It was an evening of heartfelt tributes and community pride at the Village of Babylon Board of Trustees meeting on September 23, as local leaders recognized three remarkable residents for their service and impact.

Honoring a Woman Who Embodies Babylon’s Spirit

This year, the Village created a special committee to select the Woman of Distinction, with nominations coming directly from residents. Mayor Mary Adams explained that the committee’s goal was to find someone who truly reflected the spirit of Babylon — and that they found that in Anca Radoi.

Radoi, who emigrated from Romania at age 23, holds an MBA and serves as a Program Director for the U.S. Department of State, overseeing international exchange programs. She and her husband are raising their two daughters, Claire and Chloe, in Babylon and remain deeply involved in local life.

As president of the Babylon School District PTA, Radoi advocates for education, language learning, and cultural understanding. She also volunteers on the town’s school safety committee, organizes donation drives for families in need, and supports global charitable efforts in Romania and Brazil.

“Her quiet strength, passion for community involvement, and compassionate character make her impact felt from her home to local schools, throughout the neighborhood and beyond,” one nominating letter read.

Radoi expressed deep gratitude for the honor:

“I am humbled and honored to be nominated for such an amazing award. I believe the biggest accomplishment anyone can have is to give back — even in small steps,” she said. “Thank you to my family for supporting me through late nights, last-minute changes, and the times someone needed help across the street. This award inspires me to continue this journey of giving back.”

Good Citizenship Awards: Honoring Community Compassion

The evening also celebrated two Good Citizenship Award honorees. Though Kiernan O’Halloran could not attend, Jack Monteleone accepted his award in person, surrounded by proud family and friends.

A Babylon native and graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Monteleone was honored for his extraordinary efforts to raise awareness and funding for adrenal cancer research after the loss of his mother, Leslie, earlier this year. Determined to honor her legacy, he organized a fundraiser at the Babylon Village Gazebo, raising more than $21,000 for the cause.

Mayor Adams praised his efforts:

“Although his mom couldn’t physically be here, we know Leslie was with Jack in a very special way,” she said. “When Jack sets his mind to something, it becomes his passion — and that couldn’t be more true.”

Monteleone shared his appreciation for the recognition:

“I know it’s my name on here, but I had a really strong team behind me — occupying about 25 percent of the seats in this room,” he said with a smile. “I could talk about my mom forever. Thank you all for letting me do this.”

These awards highlight how individual purpose and generosity continue to define the very heart of Babylon Village.
